I thought of this idea today...so my poor blog doesn't just die off (like it kinda already has...) I think I am going to try to write just once at week, on Thursdays, a positive post about things I am thankful for. I feel like God blessed me with the gift of gab (haha) and figured, hey maybe I can encourage someone out there with a positive post instead of something negative. So here goes.
Today, I am thankful for the little ones that God puts in my life to remind me of why I went into teaching. I have been faced with a LOT of negativity at school the last few weeks, and it has started to drag me down and make me not look forward to going into work each day! I hate that! I have never wanted to be anything other than a teacher and now I wake up and I think, "Ugh...I have to go to school..." but this week several students have said little things that have been straight from our awesome God.
"I'm so glad you work in our class."
"I'm so happy I get to see you every day!"
"I really like you Ms. Reeves!"
"I think you make a very good teacher."
"I like your hair."
"I like your shirt."
"Your necklace is pretty."
"I wish I could go home with you."
No, not all the kids I work with say such sweet things...but the ones who say these things completely make up for the ones who stress me out. And that is why I went into teaching. I love kids. I am a teacher because I want to show kids God's love. I want them all to know that they are special, loved, smart, and can be someone! Kids are such a treasure to God, and they don't all get treated like they are...even if I can only be with them a few hours a day (because I jump around from classroom to classroom) I try my hardest to love them and help them as much as I possibly can.
Don't let people in your chosen field of work discourage you from doing what you know in your heart you are meant to do. There will always be negative people. Maybe you, and I, are there to help them as well to be more positive. All I know is I cannot wait to have my own classroom one day. No matter how many people keep telling me I went into the wrong field. I know I was born to be a teacher. Challenge accepted! :)
